This is a personal blog. What expresses here have nothing to do with my employer nor the company where i work for.
About me
I’m an entrepreneur, I work in internet industry and live in Kuta – Bali. I used to skate and I used to surf back in the 90’s. I can’t stand my ankle injury anymore so I decided to retire in 1998 and focus to work on my band.
In the year of 2000, we rejected record contract offers from Sony Music and Warner, and signed an endorsement deal with Volcom instead. We signed with a boardriding based company because it fits our style instead big city major label fake music society.
Back in 2002, after releasing 3 self financed albums, we decided to split up and went our separate ways.
While my friends continue their musical career, I move to Kuta-Bali and work for Volcom Indonesia. I lead the marketing department for a year in 2002 – 2003 and did my best to help the company build the skate and surf scene in Indonesia.
By the end of 2002, we were hailed as Licensee of The Year. With the team, we used to initiate and hold surf and skate events all around Indonesia. To our portfolio, we held 31 events for 1 year while manage to help sales department on In-Store promotion across our 82 accounts around the country. We also have 20 skate and surf athletes and sign an endorsement deal with a 5-pieces underground rock band.
In 2003 I decided to withdraw from Volcom and continue my graduate business study. I went on a weekend school and manage my time to start my own music management company in my hometown, Bandung – Indonesia. I spent Monday to Friday to work on my music projects managing bands that manage to sign 2 record contracts with Sony BMG and several major labels. Also in our portfolio, we signed endorsement deals with Volcom, Electric Sunglasses and Macbeth shoe.
In 2006, I caught up with my old boss and agree to get back to Bali work on one of his surf/skate based clothing retail chain. I sold my old company for a penny and get back to work in Bali immediately.
The company manages 14 stores all across the country while also hold a joint operations with Volcom and Rip Curl concept store.
