GroundSurf is a three-wheeled skateboard with an unusual twist: You can control it with a Bluetooth mobile. It’s driven by an electric motor between the two front wheels, and you can either remotely control its speed with your Bluetooth phone or lean forward to accelerate, backward to slow down or brake. But its designers, Paris-based company Ratleads, say it’s not a skateboard at all, but a surfboard.

Nixon, the premium accessories company from Southern California, will release a special edition Lodown to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Orange County, CA based surf shop, Jack’s Surfboards.

This special edition Lodown features a gold-plated case and buckle with a custom Jack’s Surfboards 50th Anniversary engraved caseback.

The Lodown is the most comprehensive tide watch available, with tide charts for 200 beaches globally pre-programmed for the next 15 years, making it the obvious choice as the official 50th Anniversary timepiece for one of the nation’s oldest and most established surf retailers.

“Jack’s is synonymous with surfing and is one of the few retailers in the nation who has had a focus on surfing for more then five decades,” said Nixon co-founder, Chad DiNenna. “Nixon is honored to be a part of this history. Offering a limited production colorway to commemorate the anniversary was a fun project to include the Lodown tide watch in.”

Nixon joins other industry leaders such as DVS, Billabong and O’Neill in toasting the enduring success of Jack’s Surfboards for the past five decades with the release of special edition products.

The 50th Anniversary Lodown is in stores now and will be sold exclusively at Jack’s. Nixon will hold the position as the exclusive watch partner for this commemoration.
