Celebrating Blog’s 100th Post

I was confused. I should be happy because this is the 100th post of this blog which i should celebrate but by far i couldn’t find anything ’special’ enough for this particular post until i found this site today.

So i found YouthNoise, website operate by youth for youth for a good cause. The site also included youth-oriented causes which include Art & Education. The site is also supported by a beneficiary company from Virgin Group.

So this is the 100th post and i feel good. Check out Youth Noise site here, and make a good cause for your people.

Grom Project Site

There’s a cool project that potentially able to hook up potential surfers with company sponsors. The project name is Grom Project.

In their own words:

The Grom Project is dedicated to educating, inspiring and preparing youth to build a better future: for themselves, their communities and the environment. We speak to kids through surfing – its athletes, companies and culture; because the surfing lifestyle, at its best, challenges us to pursue respect, personal excellence, knowledge and peace.

How true.

It’s nice to hear that people are still care about the better living earth. It’s a core of Boardriding community anyway…

Surf For Awareness

“Surf for Awareness” Contest Benefiting B4BC Hits San Onofre State Beach Aug. 11th

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 July, 2007 : – - Los Angeles, Ca — Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) Board Member Una Baker and Western Surfing Association (WSA) have partnered to organize “Surf for Awareness,” a surf contest to promote breast cancer awareness. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2007 from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at San Onofre State Beach, Trail 6.

Proceeds from the event will benefit B4BC, the leading non-profit, youth-focused breast cancer awareness foundation that teaches young people the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle.

“Being a breast cancer survivor and B4BC board member, I thought this would be a fantastic way to bring awareness and support for the organization and the importance of early cancer detection and good breast health practices,” said Una Baker. “The contest will be a fun and educational event for everyone!”

The event features 16 divisions from elementary to adult for men, women and children, and includes a very special breast cancer survivor heat. The fun-filled day will also feature appearances by special guest professional surfers and live raffles throughout the day with items such as a surfboard, skateboard and bicycle.

Registration is $45, however, participants are encouraged to contribute and/or raise $50 or more to benefit the B4BC foundation. Competitors that raise at least $50 will receive a free raffle ticket and the top three fundraisers will receive special prizes. Neverland Foundation for Street Skater Kids

We checked our gmail inbox today and found an email from Suri. Suri is honest to his blood and he’s our best friend. He’s one of the greatest guy in Indonesia’s skateboarding history. You can’t mess with Suri. Moreover he quotes below:

NEVERLAND FOUNDATION cares for ANAK JALANAN at Baranang Siang Bandung who like to riding skateboard, and they prepared for anything needed to ride a skateboard, behind of Neverland is PEY Bandung skateboarder .

If we can told you a story, Bandung is famous for street kids (you can locate Bandung-Indonesia through Google Earth). Their numbers are growing everyday. Many communities had tried to done their best to save these kids. Most of them come from art/music communities. The most famous movement to this matter is Harry Roesli’s DKSB. Correct us if we’re wrong, their movement is endless.

In relation to skateboarding, we think this is a great effort for encouraging kids to skate. We believe that PEY Skateboarders have done a great job. We surely hope this effort can stay long and continue to help kids to skate. Thinking of donating? Feel free to contact Suri at Happen Magazine.
