So you’re working at Google?

People often look for role model and here’s a fine example.

I work at a surf/skate fashion retail chain. We sell brands like Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Billabong and Volcom to name a few. When I first move to Bali to work at the company’s headquarter; apparently I meet a lot of new people. In my neighborhood where we live, we have a Japanese neighbor. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a nice neighbor and we’re glad to know him & his family.

On our initial meeting, I introduce myself as a worker at the surf/skate industry. When hearing surf industry, the Japs asked me, ‘so you’re working at Billabong?’ No I said, I work at a retail chain, but we also sell Billabong.

After a month or so, the Jap came to my house and met my wife. He asked her for help because he has just bought a new Billabong watch that is somehow broken. My wife said that her husband can’t do anything about it and embrace him to go to the store where he bought the goods. But then he asked her, didn’t your husband work at Billabong?

Most people just don’t get it. It’s like, if you’re working at an internet company; your have-no-idea friends might ask you, so you’re working at Google?
