The Good use of a Personal Site
Posted by Robin Malau | Filed under Cool Sites
I was browsed around, following the wind and find this. It’s a personal blog for Sean O’Brien, an Australian Professional Wind Surfing. The design is slick, tide and super cool. From what i see, it communicate effectively seeing the stats that the blog has only 24 posts which is able to generate 57 comments so far.
I would love to see more professional athlete make the use of internet to make the most of their career. From what i see, professional athlete in my country is too lazy to do this. Most of them think that having a MySpace account is enough. Pity. They should learn from Sean o Brien.
You should check out Sean O Brien’s blog and his tour diary page.
Priceless! Cool!

March 5th, 2008 at 1:51 pmHey,
Thanks for the recognition. Glad you liked my new site. I totally agree, there’s not a lot of guys in the windsurfing world who have personal websites, and I think that’s the same throughout many sports.
I actually wrote an article about this sought of thing on another website of mine:

Although, admittedly, I did say that having just a MySpace page was ok! But I was aiming it at kids, not full-time professional athletes!
Cheers.

March 5th, 2008 at 2:14 pmHey Sean thanks for stopping by. Of course having a profile in social media sites is a great entry. But in the end, a professional, either it’s athlete, lawyer, doctor, bands or whatever is a personal entity that should stand alone out off those social media sites. However, smart marketers combine the strength of the two.
